NUX Modelling Bass-Preamp

Melvin Lee Davis is a Californian bassist, singer, and keyboardist, producer, and television composer. He is the musical director of the Grammy-winning band Chaka Khan and has recorded with numerous American bands. With his expertise, NUX has designed a kind of Swiss Army knife for bassists. The goal was to offer a studio-quality preamp that is flexible and modern, allowing it to be used in any situation to ensure a versatile and inspiring bass sound.

The robust housing combines high-quality digital technology and all the modern features a modern bassist expects on the go. The double pedal offers a highly efficient preamp section, equipped with a 3-band semi-parametric mid-range EQ for fine-tuning frequencies between 150 and 940 Hz. There's also a drive section with a gain control, as well as a blend control for adjusting the mix between the preamp and drive signals. The Nux Bass Preamp also features a noise gate with decay and threshold, which can be adjusted by long-pressing the drive footswitch. A cabinet simulator/IR loader is integrated to simulate a bass cabinet on the amp, headphones, or DI output. User-defined IRs can also be uploaded.

In terms of connections, this preamp is flexible and leaves nothing to be desired. It features an instrument input and a mini-jack aux input for playing music. A wide range of outputs is available depending on the application and configuration. A through output allows the signal to be sent to a bass amp without preamp/drive processing or cabinet simulation. The main output offers the option of sending the preamp/drive signal with the cabinet simulator enabled or disabled. A DI output is designed for direct connection to a mixing console. The XLR format offers full routing with a ground switch. This allows you to choose whether you want to send the signal without preamp/drive processing (pre-position) or with preamp/drive processing (post-position), and whether you want to enable or disable the cabinet simulator. A headphone output allows you to practice without disturbing your neighbors.

The preamp pedal can be connected to a computer via the USB port, which offers even more options and features. In fact, the NUX Preamp Bass also serves as a powerful audio interface for recording. The free software makes configuring the premap, drive, and noise gate sections even easier. You can also choose between two preamps (MLD and Aguilar) and four different IRs (8x10" and 4x10"). You can upload your own IRs via the software for even more customization!
