As we know from a fairly reliable source, the original Tune-o-matic bridge of Ted McCarty looked 1954 quite different from the bridge that would go down in history as the classic Tune-o-matic Bridge. Ted is said to have held the string saddles in position with six simple, conical spiral springs but then decided on a single spring clip, which was much cheaper to produce than six springs, and also made the string saddles much quicker to assemble. The fact that they often liked to rattle was accepted. It is no longer possible to verify whether the six screws for adjusting the octave pitch of this old, lost bridge were anchored in the housing on the side opposite the screw heads - as was the case with the later versions. And if that would have been the case, this construction was anything but perfect. This is because each string saddle would rest on four points - the two screw ends and the two lateral inchshoulders inch - which means: tilting and rattling is pre-programmed! We have integrated the good elements of this original Tune-o-matic bridge into a new, innovative unit and also - nobody knows for sure whether Ted McCarty already had it that way - cut the octave screws to length so that they just don't reach into the opposite edge of the housing. Each string rider therefore rests on only three points (which gave this bridge its name): a perfectly stable construction, which offers the best basis for a firmly articulated, sustain-rich sound, because no component tilts or rattles! The string riders themselves are made of rustproof stainless steel - perfect for the sound and against string breaking! Apart from the fact that this is the quasi original Tune-o-matic bridge, we have equipped it with a small Goeldo feature only visible from the underside: one of the two 4mm holes for the height adjustment threads is designed as a longitudinal hole, so that this bridge adapts to various spacings and can replace ALL Tune-o-matic bridges on the market. The octave pitch is adjusted with slotted screws which, due to their construction, point towards the tailpiece or tremolo. Height adjustment screw spacing: from 72.3mm to 74.0mm (center to center), Diameter of height adjustment screws: 4mm
