The base plate is milled from solid brass. The strings run over steel rollers, which can be moved sideways to adjust the string spacing. After all adjustments have been made, the string saddles are fixed using the grub screws which are located on the sides of the bridge. So the optimum in terms of sound and sustain is guaranteed.
