NUX Tape Echo Delay

NUX Tape Echo Delay
Authentic tape echo sound with modern features

Tape echoes are a time-honored method of creating delay sounds using magnetic tape recordings and a playback head system with a delay. Tape echoes have since become an effect in their own right, found on countless legendary recordings.

The NUX Tape Echo is a tribute to the renowned Japanese-made Space Echo from 1974. The analog technology of that time was a rather large and noise-sensitive device, but it still produced its characteristic sound, which was accompanied by slight tone modulation, saturation and compression.

The Echo pedal from the Verdugo series models the tape delay effect absolutely authentically with NUX Core Image technology, which reproduces the characteristic sound characteristics of the Space Echo in detail while offering the advantages and flexibility of digital technology.

32-bit conversion: Thanks to its high-resolution 32-bit conversion, the pedal offers extremely high-quality, state-of-the-art modeling for breathtaking delay sounds that wonderfully showcase and refine arpeggios or solos.

The NUX Tape Echo reproduces the sound of the three-piece playback head system in detail and even allows you to mix the different heads to offer 7 possible combinations of echoes, which can be easily selected using the "Select" setting.

An additional echo-free mode with pure, studio-quality plate reverb is also available. Seven beat-accurate presets are also available for adjusting the delay and playback controls to specific rhythms.

With the controls for time, level and repeats you can freely adjust the delay time, the effect amount and the number of echo repeats - for example for short slapback sounds up to long and literally spacey delays, which are perfect for psychedelic, ambient or shoegaze!

A two-band equalizer (bass and treble) allows for adjustment of the delay's EQ, but does not affect the reverb. The two footswitches offer even more functionality. The left switch activates or deactivates the effect; if held down, the echoes can be looped infinitely, a feature appreciated and frequently used by connoisseurs.

The switch on the right side controls the tap tempo, allowing the effect to match the song with just a few taps. Holding this switch down allows you to manage the subdivisions or delay times on the OLED screen. Finally, pressing both footswitches simultaneously activates the SOS (Sound on Sound) function, which is essentially a built-in 40-second looper (rec/play/dub) - a handy feature for practicing specific solos or passages in peace at home.

An expression pedal input is provided for continuous control of the time, the number of delay repeats, or the delay length. Mini-jack MIDI connections allow control of the pedal via precise timing protocols (5-pin mini-jack/DIN adapters are included). The two jack outputs allow you to use the delay in stereo for even more depth.

Additionally, the pedal can be connected via USB to the specially developed Tape Echo Edit software. This allows you to further customize your delay settings and create the most unusual presets. The USB port also allows for firmware updates.
